BUTTER FOR EXPORT.
AUCKLAND OUTPUT INCREASING.
CB7i Oorreaion'tenU Auckland, October 7.
Butter for export continues to come forward in a satisfactory manner, although a very largo quantity is available in the freezing works. Tho steamer Ruapehu, which leaves for Wellington this week, en route to London, will only take a, total of 8000 boxes of butter from Auckland. On Saturday 350 boxes were sent to Wellington for transhipment to the steamer Tahiti, which leaves for San Francisco shortly. This brings tho' export of butter from tho province for tho past fortnight to 8350 boxes, as compared with 12,636 boxes for tho corresponding fortnight of last year. Including the quantity to bo taken by tho Ruapehu and the shipment for San Francisco, ttie butter exported this season from the province reaches a total of 28,797 boxes. This allows a decrease of 1503 boxes when compared with tho quantity exported for the corresponding period last yeaw The deficiency does not. mean that there is a decrease in the supplies of butter. Oil the contrary, the season opened exceptionally well, and gfeater quantities have come forward than during similar periods of previous seasons. As a matter of fact after the Ruapehu is loaded there will remain in tho freezing works over 12,000 boxes. The bulk of this is being held over for export to Vancouver. If all the butter available had been exported this week the quantity shipped would have exceeded that of last year by over 10,000 boxes. With tho butter coining forward for export in such large quantities it is anticipated that the shipments within the next few weeks will greatly exceed the export for tho corresponding period of last year. The butter market is very firm, and .there are indications that good priceß will bo maintained throughout the season. Now Zealand butter is now in strong demand on the London market at 120s. per cwt. At tliit price the past fortnight's shipments should be worth £22,753 175., f.o.b. Auckland.
