NOME CITY ALMOST ANNIHILATED.
GREAT STORM IN ALASKA. By Telegraph—Pxosj Association—Copyright (Roc. October 7, 9.35 p.m.) New York, October 7. The town of Nome, in Alaska, has been almost wiped out by a great storm. Tremendous seas broke over the waterfront, and vessels were sent to bring off all inhabitants dosirous of leaving. Tiio sea swept a nurabor of houses on the water front into the sea. During the storm a fire broke out and destroyed the wholo of the business section of tho town. Nome City, tho headquarters of one oftho North-West Alaskan goldfields,, contains about 5000 inhabitants.
