GOVERNOR SULZER.
THE IMPEACHMENT TRIAL. By Te'usrapk—Pi-sea Association-Copyright New York, October 6. The hearing of the charges against Mr. Sulzor, Governor of New York, who has been impeached by the Stato Legislature, was continued. In opening tho caso for the defence, Mr. Sulzer's counsel ■endeavoured to show that the moneys alleged to have been wrongfully used wero really given to Mr. Sulzer for other purposes than campaign funds: consequently, no charge of wrongful conversion existed. It is reported that Mrs. Sulzer will be examined regarding the part ■she played in tho alleged stock transactions to which she confessed. It was previously mentioned that Mrs. Sulzer had stated that eho was responsible for the entire speculations without her husband's knowledge. Tho prosecution alleges that Mr. Sulzer 'was guilty of plain larceny, perjury, and fraud while holding office; that lie not only used party funds, but used his position in order to introduce legislation vitally affecting tho rise and fall fit stocks; and "Wat, ,while announcing that lie would have no campaign collections, he. had his secretary secretly running such.
