■•(From Our Special Correspondent.) ♦ NEW SALVATION HALL. Tho erection of tho now Salvation Hall at Lower Hutt is to be commenced next week. A piece of land has been purchased in Blooiniield Road, not far from the Town Hall, and is in a <jood centra l position. The hall is ..ft be - ?#!, by 34ft., and capable of accommodating 130 people, a size just suitablo for the Army's needs at Lower Hutt. The cost of the land and building is to bo about £600. Tho building should be completed and ready for use m about two months' time. . TECHNICAL SCHOOL. At a meeting of the I'etone Teclmical School Board held last evening, tho director (Mr. J. Lynskey) presented a report on tho sheep-shearing classes, the estimated cost of which would be about £24. Mr. White, a shearing expert, had offered his services free, and the first lesson will bo given on Friday. About 600 sheep will bo available for practice. The report also thanks Messrs. Burridge, Nicols, White, and Ackroyd for paving the way for these classes. A LEGAL OPINION. The meeting of the Hutt Park Committee, which was to hare been held last evening, lapsed for tho want of a quorum. Tho secretary has received a legal opinion from Messrs. Findlay, Dalziol and Co. regarding the Wellington Hockey Association not requiring grounds at the park. The firm stated that as tho committee had not been able to provide ten grounds, it was not in a position to enforce specific performance of the agreement. JUVENILE RECHABITES.

Last evening members of the Hope of Wellington Juvenile Rechabites visited tho Huia Juvenile llechabitcs at l'ctone, leaving Wellington by the 6.14 p.m. train, under the charge of Sister Digglo and Bro. Stott, superintendents. Tho members of tho Petoue branch received tho visitors. Bro. T. Fathers, D.S., occupied tho chair. During tho meeting a telegram was received from the D.S., J. 8., Bro. H. Heyward, _of Gisborne, with greetings and wishing all a pleasant evening. Bro. Ackroyd voiecd the appreciation of tho Petone members at the visit, and his remarks were endorsed by Bro. C. Bell. After a pleasant evening the visitors returned by the 9.30 train. During the course of the proceedings items were contributed by tho following Melton Asliby, Stella Hunt, Annio Walker, Hazel Asliby, Willie Wood, Agnes Maud, Mr. Holmes, Edith O'Keefe, Winnie, Mary, and Enid Stott, Marion Tucker.
