Wostport, October 6. 1 Trouble ooourred at tho Stockton Dime this morning over tho question of what constitutes the mine mouth in the new workings. Tho men claimed that time began from the time'of entering tho mouth of tho old mine, whereas tho management claimed that it began from the time of entering tho mouth of tho •' .uew mine. The section of men employed at tho latter works turned to in aceqrdauoe with thoir contentions, but were ordered off homo, whereupon all the men employed at tho mine, numbering about two hundred, downed tools, stating that a lock-out had occurred. Tho company only recently openod tlia new mine-mouth, which is about a mile and a half distant from tho month bf tho old mine. At present only a smiill 1 number of men are working there, but it is hoped, before long, to have a large number employed. The company's cars, in which tho men travel, cover the distance in about ten minutes, so that tho loss per man per day coming and gcing, if tho demands are conceded, will oe twenty minutes. The company claim that tho agreement was nevor intended to bo so interpreted, and that, to grant tho demand made, would seriously hamper tho financial working of the mine.
