9 Thoro was another large and appreciative gathering at His Majesty's Theatre last night, on tho occasion of tho sixth concert of the season, given by tho Professional Orchestra, under the baton of Mr. Christian Hellemnn. Tlio orchestra probably surpassed previous efforts in their fino interpretation of the Sibelius's tone-poem "Finlandia," which was prohibited during tho conflict between Russia and Finland. The roligious solemnity of tho opoming thomo was well emphasised by the trombones, and tho spirited dancetune, and tho bold, militant thomo, livened by drum and triangle, followed by contrasting melody like a sad falktimo, tho latter played by tho woodwind instruments, and repeated by tho strings, wero all given full and harmonious effect to. Tho other items of a most succcssful programme were:— March, "Cornelius" (Mendelssohn), barcarolle, from Offenbach's "Talcs of Hoffmann," the first performanco by tho Orchestra of tho overture to Weber's "Der Freischutz," Von lilou's "Traumbild," for strings only, "Idyllo" (Elgar), and a flute and clarinet duet, "Tho Butterfly" by Mr. A. P. Truda and Mr." H. Moschini. Young Man (dining with young lady): "Oh, waiter, may we have a spoon here?" Waiter: "No objection, sir, if you don't mind. Hie other guests."
