Lakeside stud farm, Palmerston (North, of which Mr. A. J. Gallichan is the proprietor, in addition to purchasing Mr. M. O'Connor's (Pahiatua) small choice herd (Mr. O'Connor having sold his farm), has also purchased threo lino Longbeach cows from Mr.- Gladstone Robinson (Timaru)'. These axe , said to he animals of tho highest class, and were purchased as a permanent addition to the Lakeside herd. They have already begun to show what they can 'do, for Diamond (imp.) under Government supervision has already beaten tho 701b. in, one day this season, and Holland Queen, a Longbeach cow, has beaten 751b. Mr. Gallichan has many animals whioh will be riven an opportunity under semi-official (Government) ,test to' do gs well as the two cows already mentioned. The breeder ini question states that his third annual " salo of registered; , Holstein-Friesian cattle, numbering 25 this year, will take . place at the farm, Lakeside, Tiakitaliuna, on November 5 next. Prospective buyers can get catalogues from the auctioneers, Messrs. Dalgcty and Co., and will bo conveyed to tho farm on notifying their desire to attend. Mr. Gallichan gives his personal guarantee •that each animal is true to'description. 'As the Tesult of past sales, 50 head alone have found their way to Smith Island purchasers. The record imported •butter bull, Canary Paul Forbes Oak, whose seven nearest dams average 37.291b. butter per week, will bo on view on tho day of the sale. Two of this young bulls will bo offered.
