Maxwell) was born in London in 1537, and has devoted herself to literary work sinco 1860, in which year her first novel, "Tho Trail of the Serpent," was written and published in serial form. Notwithstanding tho groat number of novels she has written, she has found spare time to interest herself in gardening and music.
