WIFE AND CHILD DISCOVERED DEAD. By Telegraph—Press Association—OiDyrtcht Sydney, October 4. A tragedy is reported from Ballina, 320 miles north of Sydnoy. John Rankin, returning homo from a meeting, discovered his house locked. Forcing an entranco, ho found his wife in bed and their thirteen months' child on the floor, both dead, with their throats cut. The child, ho also found, had apparently been struck on tho bead with a hammer lying near.
