HOCKEY.
BRITISH TOUR ABANDONED. (By Tolccrnph—Press Association.) Chrlstohurch, Oofcobor 3. Tho Council of tho New Zealand Hockoy Association decided to-night to abandon the proposed tour of a British team through the Dominion.
The employees of Messrs. Niven and Co. and friends assambled last evening (says our Napier correspondent) to say farewell to tue members of tlio staff who are being transferred from Napior to Wellington. Numerous toasts wero honoured. The departing members includo Messrs. Geo. Nelson (managing director), A. C. Mitchell (general manager), L. Nelson (secretary), M'Grogor (manager of Luke's foundry), and Hansard, Andorson, Todd, Miliara, Little, and Milne, Miss Skoatcs, and members of other departments.
