The Htflise of Representatives met at 2.80 p.m. Mr. J. H. BRADNEY (chairman of the A to L Petitions Committee) asked for leave for the committee to sit whilo tho Houso was sitting during tho afternoon. SIR J. G. WARD (Awarua) protested against members of tho House being required to bo out of the Chamber when important Bills wero before the House. He suggested that it might be necessary, in order 1 to avoid it, to remodel the arrangements for the sitting of. the House. Possibly it would bo better to have the House sit from 10 a.m. to 6 and to allow committees to sit at fvlr. J. H, BRADNEY, in reply, said that he was merely following the instruction of his committeo. "Ho, personally, did not believe in committees sitting whilo the House was sitting. The motion was agreed to, the only "no" raised against it being Sir Joseph ■Ward's.
