IMPERIAL DEFENCE.
e SITUATION REQUIRES REVIEW. By Telecraph—Press Association—Oopyrijht (Reo. October 3, 11.5 p.m.) London, October 8. The "Morning Post," referring to a statement, emanating from Australia, regarding a conference on Imperial defence, to be arranged early in 1914, remarks that this represents an aspiration, rather than a fact, owing to tho preoccupation of Homo politics, and tho unsettled condition of Australian and South African politios. It is recognised that tho position of Imperial defenco needs to be discussed afresh, since, owing to recent developments, the arrangement of the 1909 conference concerning the Pacifio may bo regarded as having lapsed.
