ROUTE OP LINK LINE. . Two surveys have been mode for thß route of tlio railway that will connect Kiororoa, on tlio Oneralii-Opua lino, with the North Auckland Main Trunk railway, and settlers in the district south of Whangarei (tlio "Herald's" correspondent writes) aro awaiting witli eagorness tho solcction of tlio route. Olio route follows the foreshore of Whangarei Harbour for some nine miles to Mangapai. thence striking west to the valley or tho Tauraroa liiver and Waiotera, tlio presumed point of junction ' wjth' tlio unain lino. Tlio other traverses the Fuwora Valley, skirting the fringe of the fertile Maungaknramea district, and then follows the valley of -the Tauraroa to Waiotera. The. matter is one of special interest to tho various local bodies concofned, as until a routo jb ! definitely fixod, they lare unable ,to decido upon roadin'g' policies, and tlio consequent arranging of access to tho stations that will be placcd along the routo. At. the prosent' time much' of the stock for tho local markets, and for shipment at Mangapai, is driven from tlio hinterland and tho lands further to tho west on tho Wairoa side.' and in this connection transit by rail is being anticipated.
