a ; WHAT THE INQUIRY SHOWED. {By Telegraph — Frees Association.) , Auckland, October 1. An inquest was held to-day by Mr. E. C. Cuttcn, S.M., into tho circumstances connected witli tho death of l'ercy Butler, a young farmer from Humia, who had been found with his throat cut on Thursday of last week. Tho injured' man died in the Auckland Hospital on Monday. Deceased's father said that his son had been working at homo on the farm. Deceased's health had been good, and ho did not drink. On Thursday evening witness found his son with his throat, cut. Deceased admitted before death that .lie had done tho deed himself.

Medical cvidonco was given by Dr. Maguire to. tho cffcct that deceased had died from haemorrhage caused by a cut in the throat. Deceased had apparently mado up his mind to dio, as ho resisted all efforts to feed him. Ho said that he had been seized with a horrible impulse to cut his own throat. Judging bv deceased's depressed stato of mind, witness had no hesitation in saying that the deed must have been dono while ho was of unsound mind. "Death from self-inflicted injuries, deceased being of unsound mind at the time," was the verdict returned.
