ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
UNUSUAL CAUSE OF DEATH. RELATED AT INQUEST. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) . .Auckland, October 1. the circumstances connected with the death of Lawj-or.ee Varian Wilson, tailor, -0 years of ago, who was tho victim o t. a motor-car accident at Mangero on Sunday last, were shown ti bo ot an unusual nature at the inquest this_morning before the Coroner (Mi. . K C. Guttcii, S.M.). Medical evidence tips to th© ofFect that decoasod was tho victim of a complaint known as haemophilia, or "bleeder." Dr. Maguire medical superintendent of tho Auckland Hospital, said that deceased ivas admitted on September 28, the history of the case indicating that he had been thrown out of a motor-car. He" had a fracture of the right collarbone. Tie said, too, that lio was what was known as a "bleeder." 'Shortly after admission his collarbone,was set. On the day following his shoulder was very much swollen, and lie developed a very blue colour. Ho sank rapidly, and died at 7 o'clock on the evening of September 20. The cause of death was fracture of the right collarbone, taurnatic haemorrhage. and haemorrhngoduoto what was known as haemophilia, which was a congenital defect affecting the coagulating property of tho Wood. Any slight wniind might cause such a s'ubject°to Mood to death, and such subjects rarely lived beyond the age of 20. Deceased's mother had said that she had experienced considerable' trouble with him, and it was a wonder that ho lived so long. A verdict :in accordance with the medical testimony was returned, the Coroner recording that the injuries were Accidentally received.

An inquest was held this aftornoon into the circumstances connected with the death of Henry Metcalf, pged 51 veors, tailor, residing in Springfield Tiond. St. Albans, who died suddenly in Hereford Street yesterday afternoon. A vi. rdiet of death 'from heart failyro was returned. A mental hospital patient named fetor Wnolcy died last night after undergoing an "operation for rnpturo.
