LOWER HUTT COURT.

Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., presided over the monthly sitting of the Lower Hutt Magistrate's Court yesterday morning. Associated with him was Mr. J. Cudby, J.P.

The Hutt County Council (Mr. R-. C. Dick, ranger) proceeded against tho following for allowing cattle and horses to wander: —George Johnson, convicted and ordered to pay court' costs 95.; T. Rcasby, fined 55., with costs 95.; E. Cottle, fined 10s., with costs 95.; W. Cottle, fined 205., with costs 17s. 6d.; T. Mitchell, M. Sullivan, and W. Jones, each fined 55., with costs 17s. 6d. A claim for £34 4s. was made by plaintiff in the caso William Whitehead v. George .Bradley* Tho case was adjourned to Wellington, to be heard on Friday. Plaintiff's solicitor was allowed £1 Is. The civil case L. V. Woolston v. John O'Keefo, a claim for £19, was adjourned to next court sitting on November 5, defendant's solicitor being allowed £1 Is. and witnesses' fees £1. Judgment was given for plaintiff by default in tho caso M'Menamin Bros, v. J. W. Nicholson, a claim for 10s. 4d., with costs ss. ' .
