Observation schools were montioned in tho inspectors' report submitted to the Wellington Education Board yesterday. The Chief Inspector (311'. T. R. Fleming) said that tho Taranaki Board favoured setting up such schools for the benefit of uncertificated teachers. The inspectors, however, felt that there was a danger in that—a partial remedy of a defect' that might endanger the real remedy, which was that all teachers should "go through the Training Coli lego. Some stops should bo taken to give certain teachers an opportunity of improving, and tho board could give every encouragement to the Taranaki Hoard to send their teachers to the Wellington Training College. It was decided to disapprove of observation schools, as suggested by Taranaki, and to tako steps in tho direction indicated J)j tlio iußficotors.
