A REFORM RALLY.
AT PALMERSTON. PREMIER WARMLY WELCOMED IMPERIAL DEFENCE. AUSTRALIAN NAVY INVITED TO NEW ZEALAND, (By Telesrnph.—Special Reporter.) Palmerston North, September 29. A great rally of supporters of tho Reform party in the Manawatu district was held this evening in the Palmerston North Opera House, which was crowded. The Mayor of Palmerston North (Mr. J. A. Nash) presided, and with him xjn the platform were: The Prime Minister (the Hon. AY. F. -Massev), the Minister of Marine (the Hon. F. M.'B. Fisher).- Mr. D. Buick, M.P. for Palmerston North, and the following Reform members of Parliament : Messrs. J. B. Hine, G. M. Thomson, A. Harris, J. H.-- Bradney, AV. Young, T. W. Rhodes, AV. Escott, AY. Nosivorthy, R. F. Bollard, D. Scott, F. Mander, and C. A. AVilkinsori. Tho meeting was a most enthusiastic one, and highly successful from eveiy point of view. An apology for absence was received from Mr. E. Newman, M.P. for Manawatu. The Mayor welcomed the Prime Minister. They wore, he said, always pleased to seo Mr. Massey, as they, imow ho was a man who was popular with the people. This was the first time he had been in Palmerston North sinco he took over tho reins of office. The Mayor also extended a welcome to Mr. Fisher and the other members of Parliament, also to Mrs. Massey. Mr. D. Buick said that members- of the party had been anxious, almost to a man, to be present, and all had come who could possibly get away. (Applause.)
