FISHING SEASON.
THE OPENING TO-MORROW. Anglers are busy these days in furbishing up their gear for the approaching fishing season, which commences tomorrow. .There was quite a gathering of rod-men at one of tho city shops yesterday afternoon sorting out a variety - of flies. These are now prepared very cleverly, each half-dozen flies being arranged on a card that is covered with a casing of gelatine, which preserves the form of the flies, and keeps them dry. The new coloured ,fly catalogues are also helpful to tho fishorman who wishes to try the effect of new lures. The season promises to be a good one in the Wellington district. Thanks to a mild winter, the ova liberated by the Wellington Acclimatisation Society has had the best of conditions in which to i develop. The. society has done its work well', and favourable reports have been received from most of tho streams within reach, of Wellington. The only stream which there may be a doubt about is the Wainui, which has been disturbed a good , deal by. the work that ■has been done at the Solomon's Knoh dam during the winter months. The number of licenses that have been taken out so far is about'normal. -
