4 SIR ALFRED EAST,' R.A. By Telegraph—Preso Association—Copyright London, September 28. Sir Alfred East, R.A., President of the Royal Society of British Artiste, is dead.
Sir Alfred East received his' art education. at the Government School of Art, Glasgow, and the Ecolo des Beaux-Arts, Paris. Ho won gold medals in London ond Paris, and <at Munich and Barcelona. His works in different national galleries in Britain, America, and other parts of the world include "Returning from Church," "Evening in the Cotswolds," "Autumn in. the Ouso Valley," "A Passing Storm," "A Haunt of Ancictit Peace," "Tho None Valley." "The Silent Somnio and Autumn," "Gibraltar from Algeciras," "Tho Golden Valley," etc. In 190G lie published "Tlio Art of Landscapo Painting in Oil Colour." He was made an R.A. this year, prior to which ho was an A.R.A.
