HUTT AND PETONE NEWS.
(From Our Special Correspondent.) 8 , Much interest is being taken in a football match which is to bo played in Petono, under League rules, next Saturday, between married and single men. Bro. J. Cairns presided at the meeting of tho Petono Druids' Lodgo last evening. I.P. Bards reported four members on the sick fund. It was decided, to pay a visit to the Coronation Lodge on Tuesday, October 7. In order that tho lodge might be represented at the Labour Day Carnival, on October 27, three members were appointed to attend the meetings of the Carnival Committee. Last ovening tho Pet-one Wesley Literary Society held a journal night. There was a good attendance, the Rev. J. J. Lewis presiding. The following items were rendered : "Editorial" (Mrs. J. M'Dougall), "Thoughts on the Panajna Canal" (Mr. Lockwood), "Flower Shows" (Mr. Akhurst), "Mihi —A Sketch" (Miss E. C. Kirk), "Wireless Telegraphy" (Mrs. M'Dougall), "An Analogy of Life" (Mr. Simpson), "Poetry" (Mrs. M'Dougall), "Boy's Diary" (Mr. Lockwood), "Ambition" (Mrs. M'Dougall), "Bible in Schools" (Mr. F. Lockwood).
