THE WAB OFFICE AND THORNYCROFT MOTOR WAGONS. Probably nowhero in the world are more exacting tests made of a motor wagon's strength and power than in the British War Office tests. The work that such a wagon may be • called • upon to do under war conditions is so. extremely strenuous that the trial set by the War Olfice calls for the maximum of strength, coinbincd with mobility and simplicity of construction. Darin" the last War Officc Trials held in April; which, by the way, were probably more severe than any previous tests, tlio Thoruycroft Motor Wagon not only came out first, but was successful in securing the whole tender for fifteen wagons. The War Office have placed orders for Tbornycrdft Wagons from time io time since 1901. Probably one of tho •strongest points in favour of the Thornycroft is the fact that the chassis is of pressed steel of enormous strength. Another advantage of using this material is that the weight of a 30 h.p. chassis is only one ton sixteen lnundredweiglit, whilst most other makes, being built of tho. ordinary channel iron, weigli two tons, mid more.
