JOTTINGS FROM PROVINCIAL CENTRES. (From Our Special Correspondents.) Tr NAPIER. A memorial service for the late Sir William llusscll was held in St. Matthew's Uhurcli, Hastings, on Sunday morning. Mr. Frank Bethel, who has retired from business in Hastings, where he has resided for nearly forty rears, was met by a large number of friends on Saturday afternoon and presented with a Gladstone bag and a travelling rug, as a. token of their regard. Mr. F. A. l'iper, who is leaving l'etane, received a number of presentations from his many friends, including a case of! cutlery, a bridle, a case of pipes, etc. _ . 'file summer camp for teachers is to be held at l'etane during the last week in January. The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Hawke's Bay Lawn Tennis Association on Saturday evening President, Mr. A. [Ti. Ransom; auditors, Messrs. H. Bradley, S. M'Farlanc; hon. secretary, Mr. H. H. M'Dougall; hon. treasurer, Mr. P. K. Pasley; delegates to association, Messrs. F. Grady, F. P. Wilson; executive, Messrs. H. Bradley, It. Alexander, T. S. Bowie, I/. Bamforth, H. G. Watson, A. I. Rainbow, H. C. Thompson. CREYTOWN. On Saturday night the Grand Officers of' Manchester Unity, Wellington District, paid an official visit to the Greytown Libdgo, 1.0.0. F., M.U. An interesting resume of the proceedings of the A.M.C. of the Order, held recently at Scarborough, England, was given by the G.M. The D.G.M. dealt with the business transacted at the last district meeting:of tho Wellington' District.' Af-' the meeting the lodge members and visitors adjourned to the refreshment room, where a. very enjoyable evening was spent. Bro. Loasby gave a very interesting account of tho early history of tho Greytowu Lodgo, and tho struggles incidental to its inception,- and rravo lilso a lucid explanation of tho proposnl for consolidating tho sick funds of the various lodges of the Dominion. ,
