PLANS FOR PUSHING NAPIER AHEAD. Last year Napier had an "Industries Week," and out of that week arose tho Thirty Thousand Club, which has for its object the pushing ahead of Napier until its population readies the 30,000 mark. The club was formed in November last, and has now a membership of over 5000. Its first move was to hold a big garden fete, which netted tho respectable sum of £300. This money is being expended in the erection of high-power electric lights along Marine Parade. The club also entered 011 a tree-planting scheme in Napier South, and during last winter some twelve miles of streets in the new suburb were planted with planes, tulip trees, copper beeches, silver birches, and honey locust, and other trees. The club has up_ the first work that lay to hand, but its object is to advance the interests of Napier in every way, and direct attention to its advantages as a place of residence and a holiday resort.
