. — » . . THE PRODUCERS ASSOCIATION. The first meeting of tho Board of Management of the Bristol and Dgntinion Producers' Association was held yesterday. Present: Messrs. AV. 1). Lysnar, Gislxirne (in! tho chair) ■ J. H. Hall, Chnstcliurchj.F. Wise, Eketahuna; H. D. Vavasour, Marlborough; W. J. Paulsen, Wanganui; J. C. Field, Gisbornc; Jlnrmaduke Dixon, Canterbury; and A. D. M'Leod, Wairarapa. Eighty-six applications wore received for'tho position of the Now Zealand managership of the association, and these wero reduced to five, and a subcommittee was appointed to interview tho applicants and make the final selection. The shipping arrangements made with the F. and S. Lino were approved. These arrangements provide that tho ships arc to go direct from New Zealand to Bristol as the first port of call, and to furthir discharge produce at Liverpool, Manchester, and Glasgow as required. It was; decided to have the head office of tho association "in Wellington. - Tho full current advance is to be made on all produce consigned to those who require it. . • It was decided to. take no steps in regard to tho question of tho grading of meat.' . Also that it. bo a recommendation to the manager at Bristol to store meat rather than to sell at less than Smithfield prices, and to make arrangements for cheap storage. Tho following recommendations wero . made to the Bristol Board of Management:—Uiat in the event'of at any tirfio tho question having arisen as to prices of jiroduce consigned through the association from Australia; New Zealand, or Canada, tho decision of tho managing director to bo absolute and final, in order that there shall be no interference by the directors from tlio respective countries. That the New Zealand Board bo granted, complete power to manage the affairs of tho association in New Zealand, and that all - future appointments to tho ' New Zealand lioard bo made by the' biWrd in tlio Dominion, on tho recommendation of tho shareholders. That the term of ollico as member of'the board bo tlirco years. That tho New Zealand Board havo the power to fill vacancies and appoint any additional member that may be required.
