Given favourable weather the "vessel should make this port about & p.m. on Monday. MAPOURIKA TO RESUME. It is probable that the Mapourika will resume running in the Wellington-Nelson-West Coast service about November 4. MORAYSHIRE LEAVES HOBART. Continuing her journey from Liverpool, the F. and S. Lino's steamer Morayshire cleared Hobart for Auckland at 10 a.m. on September 24. Sho is expected to arrive at Wellington on October 7. WAIMATE LEAVES ADELAIDE. The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company has been advised that the Waimate, which is en .route from Montreal to Wellington, left Adelaide on September 24 for Melbourne, Sydney, and Auckland. &he is duo here about October 14. CALLED IN FOR "BUNKERS." Shortly after 6 a.m. yesterday the cargo steamer Roseric arrived in the stream at Wellington from Calcutta, x via Sydney and Newcastle. A call was made hero for the purpose of taking in 400 tons of bunkei coal from the Wostport Ooal Company. Captain Shotton reported having hart, ao uneventful passage. Tho Roiseric continued her journey to Corral, a port in Chile on the West Coast of South America at 6.10 p.m. yesterday. The last occasion on which the Roscric was at Wellington was on May 6. At that time sho was bound from South America to Melbourne It is probable that tho Roseric will mak< a call at Wellington for bunkers on the return journey to Calcutta. OPAWA'S MOVEMENTS. Tho New Zealand Shipping Company's Opawa, which left London on August 9, arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday morning. In connection with her present voyage sho will make a now departure by proceeding to Fiji to discharge. A large proportion of her cargo is for the Islands, this being the first occasion that a New Zealand liner has loaded cargo at London direct for Fiji. The Opo/wa is commanded by Captain A H. A messago received in Sydney recently from Thursday fcland reports the death of the well-known Torres Straits pilot, Captain Hugh Craig. He was landed from the steamer Limerick, and two days later was found unconscious in his bedroom at the Federal Hotel, having been seized with paralysis. September 24. The lonic left Auckland for Wellington at noon yesterday. She is duo in port to-morrow. After finishing Homo loading she will leave for London, via way ports, on October 1. Timber-laden, the Maoriland Steamship Company's Holmdale left Pouto, Kaipara, for Wellington yesterday afternoon. Messrs. Dalgety and Co. advise that the Mangapapa will load at Wellington next Monday for Pieton and Karamea. Tho auxiliary seow Echo arrived at West Haven from Wellington on Wednesday. She loads timber there for Nelson, subsequently proceeding to Karamea to load for Wellington. In anticipation of a rush that will tax the passenger and freight faeilit.ies of steamship companies when tho Panama Canal is opened, the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company, operating a lino of 99 steamers, passenger and freight, from London to Japan, China, India, Australia, and Africa, toaß ordered tho construction of ten largo steamships for trade through the Panama Canal.
