LORD SALISBURY'S REPLY.
TO MR. LLOYD GEORGE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. Septembor 25, 11.10 p.m.) London, September 25. Tho Marquis of Salisbury, replying to Mr. Lloyd Gcorgo, Chancellor of tho Exchequor, refers to Hansard to show that his father, in tho caso of a compulsory land purchase ill 1877, claimed compensation upon terms, which, in view of certain precedents, n Houso of Commons Committee considered excessive, . whilo tho House of Lords Committee, in view of othor precedents, considered them justified; moreover, when the Commons supported thoir own committee, Lord Salisbury advised tho Lords to yield leßt their action should bo open to misoonstruction.
