At the National Brotherhood Conference, held at Birmingham, the Rev. Mr. Gautrey stated that eight years ago Blatchfordism was in tlie ascendant, but it was practically defunct to-jlay, the Brotherhood movement having exposed its shallow sophistries and antiquated infidelity.
Tho word "Brotherhood" was adopted in the early 'nineties, but in the latest (Development of tho work, and especially, though not exclusively,' among Wesleyan churches and missions, the movement goes under the simple name of "Tho Brotherhood." The aim of the movemont, rs given in tho statement of the National Council, is:— , 1. To lend men ana women into the Kingdom of God. 2. To unite men in brotherhoods of mutual help. , . 3. To win tho masses of tho people for ,Toons Christ. The Rev P. B. Mever, R.A.. formerly president of tho National Council, speaks of the movement as the most remarkable movement of the day.
