ENGINEERS' SOCIETY.
THEIR CO-OPERATIVE STORES.
A special meeting of shareholders of the Co-operativo Society, Ltd., of the Amalgamated Society of Engineers, was held last, evening, Mr. J. Foster presiding. Tlio chairman, in explaining tlio purpose of the niecting, stated that it had been found necessary to extend the capital to carry on the stores business. Tlio societj' had opened a cooperative store some'.l3 months ago, but a mistake had been mado in not malting tlio capital sufficient in order to extend the business. Ho could see no reason why, with an increased capital, the society's business should not soon flourish. V
After a long discussion dealing principally with the committeo's action In opening a branch store at Petono, it was ■unanimously decided to adjourn the meeting for a fortnight, so tliat tho secretary might prepare a full statement of the financial position of the society's stores and also of the moneys received from shareholders collectively.
