Time, lmin. 47 2-ssec. NOTES ON~TSI RACING. Tho wholo of tho acceptors went to tho post for tho 'Hack Hurdles. Supremo and Rongomau 'were ovenly backed, whilo Silver Monarch also carried a lot of money. Tho latter was first away, and led to the initial pbstacle, after which Rongomau joined him, and tho pair carried. on tho running from At tlio six furlongs post the latter ran up to Rongomau, but tho Hastings horse had too much pace,' and easily held his own. Himitnngi was a poor third. Huia appeared well handicapped in tho Otaki Hack Handicap, but the machine showed Aritiaiia to bo a better favourite." There was some delay at the barrier, caused by Gazetto lashing out with his heels. Aratiatia assumed the.rolo of pacor, but Treo Lucorno scon joined him, and had him in difficulties as they reached the straight. Huia- then came fast on tho outside, but'it was only in tho last couplo of strides that lie displaced Tree Lucorno. Aratiatia was a length away fourth, followed by Trilby. Iliad's Horo proved that his win on tho first day was 110 fluke by leading tho wholo way .in tho Trial Handicap. AValdemar, who was runner-up the first day to tho Achilles colt, again occupied that position, boing only a head away. Adroit filled third place, just clear of Invicta, who showed a lot pace for half a milo. Ridiculo and Amity, who wero well backed, goi away- badly, and so did Intention. Undecided, carrying the No. 1 cloth, was made favourite in the, big handicap, anil 110 fairly romped in at tho'finish, with anything about a stouo in hand. Mulga Bill, who put in a great run ovor tho last two furlongs, was second a head clear of Matlow, who also finished very fast, and covered a lot of extra ground. Turna, Lord Renown, and Roosovelt wero tho next to finish. At tho start, Roosevelt and Stepney were quickest to begin, and they led with Lord Renown down the back, and round the turn into tho straight. Undecided thwi swept up 011 tho outside, and won with tho greatest of ease. Tlio Elcctrio Handicap was a groat betting ovont. Astral and Sir Mosele.y wero tho best backed, as tho former was credited with being tho equal of Ventura on tho tracks, aiul Sir Moselov had also dono, great work at Napier. At the start Sir Mosoley, Astral, and Bradarnanto led. with Pavlova. Merry Guy, and Tho Great Mo.Tul at the bead of tho others. Sir Mosoley plioolc off-tho others at tho turn. Hero Pavlova also camo through, and after her was Merry Guy. Tho leader easily held his own and won by a couplo of

lengths. Courtier was just a head in front of Merry Guy.

Gold Crest and Styx, who wero bracketed,_wero tho medium of heavy speculation in the Railway Handicap. 'Lho top weight shaped very badly, but Styx ran 'a fair raco though tho distanco was just beyond him. Ho and Perceler led to tho turn from Mount Victoria and Lady Georgia. In tho straight .Mount Victoria challenged Perceler, but tho latter struggled on gamely and tho judgo could not separato tlicm. Styx was two lengtlis away, and fourth place was occupied by Semaphore. Gazetto, who had competed earlier in tho day, was among tho horses saddled for tho Concluding event, but ho broke down badly behind just before tho start. With tho permission of tho stewards he was withdrawn, but as ho had been in tho starter's hands, his backors forfeited their investments. Prior to his being scratched ho hold tho position of favourite on the machine. With Gazetto out of tho way, tho raco was easily won by Commotion, though Bunkum ran really well. Gorberfc, after boing prominent in tho early stages, retired beaten.
