LAWN TENNIS.
, WELLINGTON CLUB'S REPORT. The annual report of tho Wellington Lawn Tennis Club gives the receipts as £216 2s. 2d., and the expenditure as £241 Is.' lid., which with the balanco from last year leaves a credit of £17 16s. 7d. to bo carried forward. The following members of the club figured prominently in New Zealand championship and other tournaments: —Miss E. Travers and Mr. H. W- Brown. The club ladies' team won the senior grade inter-club competition. In the annual match, Wellington v. Canterbury, which resulted in a win for the former by 15 rubbers, 35 sets, to 3 rubbers, 8 sets, four of tho club's members phyed for the winners—Mrs. G. N. Goldie, Misses E. Travers arid L. Van Stavereu, and Mr. H..W. Brown. A number of interesting tournaments were held during what has boeni a very successtul season. The following are somo of the results Men's championship—Mr. H.. W Brown; ladies' championship—Miss E ' Travers; ladies' handicap singlesMrs. A. J. Pernio; men's handicap singles—Mr. T. L. Ward; combined handicap—Miss E. Travers and Mr. 11. W. Brown. Twenty nominations _ tor membership have already been received. Tho thanks of the club are tendered to Dr. W. Young and Mr. John Blundell for donation's, and to tho club ladies who attended to-the afternoon tea arrangements during tho season. It has been - decided to open the club's courts on Saturday, October 4.
