THE CENTRAL CLUB'S MEETING,

I Tho Wellington Central Cricket Club held its fourth annual meeting last evening, Mr. R. W. Burbidge presiding. The annual roport_ showed' that the senior eloven of tho junior eleven were runners-up in thoir grades to North Club and St. Mark's Club respectively, whilst Brooklyn Club, which became affiliated with tho Central Club, tied with Potono Chib for tho third ■ class championship. Tho committee expressed its satisfaction at the discontinuance of tho district scheme, adding that as no new senior club could form for two years,. and 1 as tho district qualification V>r membership had been removed', tho club should be substantially strengthened; Messrs. Robinson, Naugliton, Blamires, Hickson. and Beeohey attained representative honours. The balancesheet showed a debit balauce on the year of £6 10s. Paterson drew' exception to a paragraph which ho said had appeared in a local newspaper to tho effect that unless tho club did better it would have to disband, as he thought such a statement .would stop members from joining. THE LATEST MID-WEEK OLTJB. At a meeting held last iveck it was decided to form a cricket club, to be known as "George and George's," to play in tho matches of tlio Wednesday Cricket Association for the coming season. There were a, largo number present, and Mr. L. George occupied the chair. The following officers were elected •—President, Mr. A. M'Eldowney; vice-presidents, Messrs. Kinvig, Stone, Mollison, Kirkwood, Loydon, Fox, Blacklock, Wilson, Boss, and Hugs ton; secretary, Mr. W. G. Ferry; treasurer, Mr. A. A. Adams ; field: captain, Mr. A. ,A. ( . George; captaui,. Chrlstohurch', September 22. At a meeting of the Management Committee of tiho New Zealand Cricket Council, held to-night, it was decided to appoint Messrs. Hemus (Auckland), Crombie. (Wellington), Reese (Canterbury), Dowries (Otago), and Orchard the council's representatives to sclect tie team to visit Australia this- season.
