(By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Napier, September 22. The sittings of tho Supremo' Court at Napier will conclude on Thursday. A public debate on Bible-in-Schools takes place on Tuesday between the Rev. Mr. Blamiros and Mr, Henry Hill, Inspector of Schools. At tho annual meeting of the Scindo Cricket Club held to-night the following officers were elected: —Patron, Mr. C. H. Edwards; president, Mr. H. D. Robinson; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. Andrews, R. Lyaford, R. A. Wilson, J. Griffin, H. G. Spackman, J. Hawko ; captain, Mr. 'P. Ashcroft; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. Wilson; rfecording secretary, Mr. Roy Spaokman (seniors), and Mr. 0. Miles (juniors); committee, Rev. Mr. Blamires, Messrs. P. Fulton, M. R. Grant, S. Whyte, A. L. Bailey, T. B. Bear; practice captains, Hov. Mr. Blamires and Mr. M. RGrant; delegates to Association, Messrs. P. Ashcroft and S. White; auditor, Mr. F. Fulton. The annual report showed that the club had- had a very successful season, being runners up for tho Challenge Cup f which they had held for tho four previous seasons. Tho statement of batting averages showed J. X O'Brien and T. Creed top with 26.5 runs, and C. R. Spackuan 24, and Rev. Blamires and P. Fulton avoraged 20.7. In bowling P. R. Fulton secured an uncommonly good average, getting It wickets for 824, runs. Apart from i'ho few offices observing tho Jioliday to-day and several flags flying from tho public buildings. Dominion Day was littlo recognised. Tho Napier mam school, under Lieut.-Colonel Hislop, saluted the flag, but there were no otner demonstrations. As' n motor-cycle was being ridden along the railway road at Hastings this morning by Mr. Pyke, of Waipukurau, the front wheel bumped into a deep rut with tho result that tho petrol leaked out, and tho machine burst into flames. The . flames were extinguished with road dust, though not boforo extensive damage was done to the machine. Tlie rider escaped injury.
