It was considered that it was of importance that no part of tho Town Belt should be pickcd oift by, or leased to, any privato person, or body, before ample provision had beon made for recroa- j tion grounds for children With this I in view it was resolved that a resolution to tho above effect bo sent to Councillor Atkinson and to each of tho school committees of tho city. The Municipal Corporation Amendment Bill was discussed. It was decided to forward a copy of a resolution supporting the present system of elect- ■ ing mayors to tho member of Parlia-1 ment for the South Wellington, dis--It was resolved that tho City Coun-1 cil bo asked to improve tho Mein. Street entrance to the Town Belt It was decided to ask thei City Council to improve the lighting of Donald McLean Street, Normanby Street, and Riddiford Street. A resolution was also passed asking tho council to repair Ha'l Street ~ The secretary was instructed to wnto to the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board directing their attention to the state of tho vacant sections in front of the hospital grounds at Newtown enTr"Ution was carried to the effect that the City Council be asked to arrange for the sale of concession tram tickets by conductors. It was decided to take steps in regard to establishing a looal newspaper for South Wellington and adjoining districts.
