'A story somowliat at his own expense was told by tho Rev. Jas. Palerßon at tho Early Settlers' reunion in tho Town Ilall last night. Ho narrated that on one occasion many years ago, when travelling from Wanganui to Wellington, ho put up, aftsr a long rido in tho rain, at Dr. Featherston's liouso at Waikanae. Dr. Featherston observed him attempting to_ drj| . somo sermons which ho had carried in a saddle-bag, and asked him what ho was doing. Mr. Patorson told him that ho was drying a sermon. "Take it into tho pulpit, Mr. Patorson," said Dr. Foathorston; "it will be dry enough."
