Tho aerial Derby (round London) for tTio "Daily Mail" Oup, a distance of 95 miles, was highly successful. Ideal weatnor prevailed, and there wero a dozen starters, Mr. Giistav Hamel, in a French monoplane, 4549 seconds finished first, Mr. Barnwell, in an English, monoplane, 4724 seconds was second, and Mr. Hawker, in a Sopwith biplane, 5124 seconds, was_ third. No British engine was used'. 'After tho raoo Pickles aeroplaned with Mrs. Stocks as a passenger. The machine somersaulted, and Pickles fractured, a leg, while the lady sustained concussion of the brain.
