UNLUCKY SEPTEMBER.
WELL KNOW CRAFT'S HISTORY.
Tho barquentino Wanganui, formerly tJho Oarla, seems to be having o rather eventful oareer. As stated elsewhere, she is now reported as overdue Tit Greymouth from Grafton, New South Wales. She is now 27 days out from that port on a voyage winch, usually occupies about ten days. ' Originally rthe Wanganui was named the Varliolit-er, then the Carla, and some timo ago Messrs. Hatrick and Co. (her present owners) renamed her tho Wanganui. During tho month of September, 1911. the vessel was stranded on tho beach at Wanganui, but was subsequently, refloated and towed to Wellington by. the steamer Arapawa. In September of last year she was towed into port dismasted, by tho steamer Arapawa. On this occasion she met with a heavy gale, during the height of. which she lost her spars. It is per- ' haps. interesting to note that on each ocoasion tfhen the vessel has mot with a mishap tho misfortune has happened during the month of Sopt-embor. The Wanganui is an iron barquentine of 841 tons gross and 810 tons net register and was built in 1902 at MartensIholk. Her dimensions arei length, 134.2 ft.; breadth, 26.2 ft., and depth 10.7 ft.
