MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Before Mr. W. Qt. Riddell, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court on Saturday, May Sidon was charged with the theft of 4s. 6d. in money from the person of James M'Rao. Sko pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to soven days' imprisonment. For importuning in York Street, Martha Courtenay was sent to gaolfor a month. ' ' ■
Lena Petersen admitted having escaped from the Salvation Army Home, to which sho had been committed. She was sentenced to a week's imprisonment, and was ordered to be returned to the Home at the end of that term._ Harold Bernard Thomas, for certain language, was 1 fined £3, in default fourteen days' imprisonment. For drunkenness, Bernard Thomas was fined £1, in default three days' imprisonment, and made tho subject of a prohibition order. On a further chargo of resisting the police, he was fined £2, or seven days' imprisonment. Arthur Leonard was' fined £1, or three days' imprisonment; Kenneth M'Lean and Archibald M'lntyre, 10s., or fortyeight hours' imprisonment; and four first offenders 55., or twenty-four hours' imprisonment. One was convicted and discharged.
