Items 3 and 4 were used by The Swastika Gold Mining Company for driving a two-stamp mill during their, development operations. Thoughts and concessions are situated on the Mokihinui River, about 38 miles from Westport, and are'accessible by rail to Seddonville,' 28 miles, and thence by road, ten miles. The property is right in the heart of what is known as the Great Reefton Gold Belt, an area of Slate Country extending from the,Blackwater in the south to the Aorangi Golden Blocks, on the north. In this belt of slate country all the best Gold Mines of the West Coast are situated, viz.The Blackwater, Globe, Progress, Big River .Welcome, Alpine, etc., all of which produced considerable quantities of gold in the past, and some of them rank most valuable mines in New Zealand to-day.
