AN ARMLESS ARTIST.
PAINTS WITH HIS MOUTH.
How it is possible for.a man bereft of arms to paint pictures will be demonstrated in a novel way on Saturday by Mr. W. Smith, a native of Adelaide, who has just completed a successful tour of Australia, and is about to exhibit his strange talent in New Zealand. With such a handicapj the sorry result of a tree-climbing accident when a boy (one which necessitated a series of operations extending over a period of seven years), Mr. Smith; then an inmate of the Adelaide Destitute Asylum, tried painting with the brush held in his mouth. Such were his remarkable- efforts that a fund was started to enable him to get tuition, and four years under the guiding eye and hand of Mr. J Ashton, the well-known Adolajde artist, produced astonishing results, and now ho is able to use his brushes with tho same facility and judgment of a physically-porfent artist. \ ■Mr. Smith wilhgivo daily exhibitions of his talent at G8 Manners Street, commencing at 11 a.m. to-morrow. A modest charge for admission will bo made.
