BLOOD STOCK FROM HOME.
Some rather notable blood stock arrived from England b.v tit© Ruapehu yesterday; Mr. T. Childs, who lias now made five trips to Now Zealand in charge of valuable racing stock, had housed on the foredeck two valuable animals whose blood will doubtless be heard of in New Zealand in the'futuro. Ono is tli© 7-year-old stallion Demosthenes, lately purchased at Homo by Mr. G. P. Donnelly, of Hawke's Bay, for £1250. Demosthenes is by Desmond (the leading sire at present in England and a great getter of classic race winners), and Carlin. The horso had (according to Mr. Childs) a fine career on. the English turf in 1911, when he won 'the Stewards' Handicap at Epsom, the Newton/ Cup at Newton, the Doncaster Handicap, came third in the Royal Hunt Cup (Adcot), and second in tho City and SuDurban Handicap. The stallion, which arrives in excellent condition, will stand the coming season at "Cris--60g0," Hawko's Bay. The other new arrival is the cleanbuilb fillv Orange Pippin, bred by Lord Falmouth, sire William 111, dam Field Sable, by Bend Or. Tho filly is now tho property of Mr. J. B. Rcid, of Ellerslie.
