lIATAITAI "CLUB'S MEETING. '" There were between thirty and forty present at tho third annual meeting of the' Hataitai Bowling Club, held on Wednesday evening. 111 moving the' adoption of the roport and balanco-sheef (already published), . Mr. P. Galvin (president) congratulated members on the remarkablo win of tho club's representatives in the Carnival Pairs Tournament, stating that Jones and Laurenson had to compete against 146 other players. The Diamond Buckles had been won three times by Hataitai, and were retained at the end of the season by Pryor and Barnes. There were, ho said, eighty-one paying members now on the roll, but he strongly urged upon all the 1 members of tho club to raise the number to 100 during the ensuing season. The election of officers resulted: Mr. C. H. Penney, president; Mr. J. W. ICinniburgh; treasurer; Mr. G. Hendry, secretary; Mr. J. Cheesman, assistantsecretary; Messrß. Mitchell, Rhodes, and Ballingor, jun., directors ; Mr. Fleming, ■ auditor. . ; On the motion of Mr. ICinniburgh, tho annual subscription was fixed at £3 35., reducible to £2 10s. if paid on or before November .1 next. Mr. Pryor moved that a hearty vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes as to the able manlier in which Mr. J. L. Arcus had carried out the duties of secretary since th 4 initiation of the club. This was carried unanimously. Votes of thanks were passed to the ladies who had presided at the afternoon teas during the past season; to tho retiring president and directors; and to the press for, reporting the affairs of tho club.
. Tie treasurer briefly outlined a scheme for lessening tlie club's liabilities by the issue 6f debentures for cash or on deferred payment extending over a period of eighteen months.'. The scheme was generally approved, nearly all the members presont expressing their willingness to subscribe for one or more debentures, the amount of which will bo £5.
The Karori Bowling Club has decided to open its green"on Saturday,' September, 27. On Wednesday evening some 40 members of the Karori and Newtown Clubs engaged in'a "600" tournament at the former club's pavilion. Of tho 44 games played, Karori won 25 and Newtown, 19. f
