LADIES' CHAMPION TOURNEY. (By Telegraph.—Frees Association.! Wanganui, September 18. Tlio Now Zealand ladies' annual hockey tournament concluded to-day in lino weather. The filial between Canterbury and Wairarapa was productive of line hockey, and roused tho spectators to enthusiasm. Canterbury wero tho first to attack, but wero repulsed. Tho play that followed prepared the crowd for what was to bo expectcd in regard to the hockey exhibition. Miss S. Kruso dribblod the ball from her own half, and then transferred to Miss M. Pearce, who beat the goalkeeper and scored. Canterbury, 1; Wairarapa, nil. Wairarapa, with dasliv play, attacked hotly, and numerous snots were stalled olf or missed tho goal. At last success attended their efforts. Miss Neilson carried the . ball along the line, and. drawing tho goalkeeper, shot a good goal, amid loud cheering. Wairarapa, lj Canterbury, 1. A minute later Miss Neilson repeated lier previous fine run and'goalecl similarly. Wairarapa, 2; Canterbury, 1. Tho southerners pressed-hard throughout the remainder of the gamo, but found the Wairarapa backs too good. The game ended in favour of Wairarapa by four goals to one. The Izard Cup was presented to Wairarapa, and tho runner-up shield went to Canterbury. Tho men's representative match, Wellington Wednesday and Wanganui, was also played this afternoon. Tlio game was a poor one, ending in a draw—ono all. E. Williams scored for the home team, and Sheeran for Wellington. • AUCKLAND TEAM ARRIVES. / Tho Auckland representative hockey team, which is to meet Wellington on Saturday afternoon, arrived in tho city by the Main Trunk express yesterday, nccompanied by their manager, Mr. A. E. Tattley. Tho following aro the members of the team :—C. Retinie, J. Mahonoy, M. Moore, C. Jacobson, W. Alison, C. Hallam, — Robertshawe, — Robinson, E. R. Jaoobson, B. Barry, M. Speight.
