SAD OCCURRENCE.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, September 18. A girl four years of age, naijjed Griffen,' residing with her parents in George Street, Koeky Nook, was knocked down bv a tram-car and killed instantly. It was twenty minutes before tho car was lifted off. The father was present. A FIREMAN DROWNED. Chrlstctiurch, Septe'mbor 18. The body of David Lawson, a fireman, was found in the vicinity of Cass Bay, 'Lytt-elton, this morning. Lawson had beon out of work for several weeks, and lately had beon despondent. Ho was a nativo of Scotland. At the inquest a verdict of found drowned, there being no evidence to show how deceased got into tho water, was returned.
