TOURIST DEPARTMENT.
LAST YEAR'S OPERATIONS,
The General Manager of the Departout of Tourists and Health Resorts (Mr. B. M. Wilson) states in his annual report that tlio record of the Department for tlio year under review has been a vcrv satisfactory one. - ''Tlio revenue from al! sources amounted to £'29,711 2s. 5d., against £28,048 3s. lOd. for the previous year, being an increase of £1662 18s. 7d. Tho "working. expenses amounted to £15,934, against £40,478 for the previous year, being a decreaso of £544. "The booking of tours through the different agencics of the Department has becomo very popular, and its advantages have been well advertised. Tho value of tours booked during the year and commission earned show a very substantial incrcaso over the figures for previous years. "I have during tho year visited as many as nossiblo of tlio places under tho control of the Department," tho manager states, "and will endeavour during the coming recess to complete my inspection of tho remainder. Tho whole of tho resorts have been maintained in good order,- and many improvements adding to the convenience of tourists have been mado." —
