Budapest, September 15. Professor Arniiniits Vamber.v, Professor of Oriental Languages at Pest University, is dead.

Arminius Vambery, G.V.0., Knight of Imperial Leopold Order, Grand Cordon of tho Medjidie. Second Class of the Japanese Order the Holy Treasure, Officer of tho Italian St. Maurice. .and Lazaro and Crown Orders, etc., honorary doctor of . the Budapest University and of the Dublin Trinity College, anil honorary and corresponding member of various philosophical and geographical societies, was born in Hungary in 1832. Ho travelled in Central Asia, visiting Khiva and Bokhara, and took an active part in tho defeneo of British interests in Asia. His publications include:—"Travels in Central Asia," "Sketches of Central Asia," "History of Bokhara," "Central Asia Question," "Arminius Vambery; His Life and Adventures," "The Coming Struggle for India," "Tho Story of My Struggles," "Western Culture in Kastern Lands," and several ivories relating to the literature, ethnography, and linguistics of Central Asia.
