There is an enormous dem'and for the two novels which were recently banned by tho public libraries —"The Woman Thou Gavest Mo" (Hall Caine), and "Tho Devil's Garden" (\V. B. Maswell). Edison (tho inventor) is incapacitated from work owing to having takon a fortnight's holiday. His doctor declares' that tho rest made him ill and that ho should never take auothor holiday. South Africa is dosirous of arranging for tho Princo of Wales to open tho now Government Buildings at Pretoria in October, 1914. Tho Princo will probably pay a visit to Australia subsequently. FOUND DEAD IN A PADDOCK. Adelaide, Soptember 15. A man named Frederick Henry Stophons was found dead in a paddock at West Adelaido at 2 o'clock on Sunday morning, with three blood-stained bottles alongside him. A woman who had been seen in his company has been detained. Slio says she doos not remember tho occurrence. VICTORIAN LOAN. London, Soptember 13.
