9 . JUDGE GAYNOR-MAYOR OF NEW YORK. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Now York, September 12. Tho Mayor of Now York, Mr. AV. J. Gaynor, died of heart failuro aboard tho steamer Baltic iu uiid-KKCim. Tho news was received lioro by wireless message from his son, Mr. llufus iiaynor, who was also aboard tilio vessel. Mr. Gaynor recently accepted independent nomination for tho Mayoralty against tho Tammany candidate, having refused to accept Tammany dictation during recent 'years. Tho immediate cause of his death was coughing duo to the bullet in his throat which was not removed after his attempted, murder three years ago by a dock labourer named Gallaher. Mr. Gaynor's son was present at his death, and collapsed, owing to tho shock. Ho has not yet recovered. The polico escorfcd the body to the Town Hall, where it will be continuously guarded until transhipment to iJhe United States. PASSING OF A FENIAN. (Rec. September 14, 5.5 p.m.) London, Septembar 13. The Fenjan Fitzgerald, latterly a working compositor in London, and who was connected with tho abortive insurrectionist movement of 1'867, and participated in a raid on tile Canadian frontier, is dead. London, September 11. Mr. George Tinsworth, the sculptor, is dead. London, September 12. . Sir Frederick A. Eaton, Secretary of the Royal Academy, is dead. He was born in 1838 and Knighted in 1911.
