The hearing of the case against Joseph Grizgard, Simon Silverman, and Lcisir Gutwirth (Austrian diamond dealers), John Lockett (jowellor), and James M'Carthy (aged eighty-two years), charged on remand with being concerned in the theft of tho peaai necklace, was continued to-day at Bow Street Police Court. A featuro of the evidence was the first revelation as to how tho pearls wero stolen. Quadrenstein, who conducted the negotiations for tho purchase'of the pearls from Gutwirth, narrated how the latter, at ono interview, had reported that the oxpenses in connection with tile enterprise totalled £2400, including £100 each for two postmen, hut lie did not mention whether they were French or English. Gutwirth, said witness, added that Lockett, one of the accused, had charge of tho pearls. Quadrenstein further stated that ■Gutwirth told him that Lockett snatched a bag of jewels from a man named Goldschmidt aji'Cafo Monico on July 2, 1009. -
