PITCHED BATTLE IN AMERICA. By Telezraph—Press Association—Copyright (Reo. September 14, 5.5 p.m.) New York, September 13. Some negroes in a small village in Illinois attempted tcv force a merchant to accept an irregular bill in payment for certain purchases. Tho merchant refused, and the negroes then shut up his shop. The citizens organised a posse, pursued tho negroes, and a pitched battle followed, two of the negroes, being shot dead. .
